Washing bumGenius Products:

BY FOLLOWING THESE INSTRUCTIONS YOU SHOULD GET THE LONGEST WEAR FROM YOUR DIAPERS

Use a plastic trash can with a lid for dirty diapers. Washable liners are available in a variety of colors for $16.50.

You should never soak a soiled diaper. Solid waste falls easily into the toilet and sticky waste will dissolve in the washer and be flushed into the sewer.

If you are not using BIOKLEEN*, and are experiencing extreme leaking, try switching detergents.

Using bumGenius Products For the First Time:

Prior to first use, wash diapers and inserts using the instructions below (start with step 3 and use detergent).

1. Wash dirty diapers every other day, or at least every 2-3 days to prevent smelling.

2. For best results, remove solids from diapers before storing in pail. Liners are recommended and will keep things sanitary.

3. Separate the liners from the pocket, and throw in the machine. Wash on COLD temperature setting for a PRE-WASH cycle. You may also put diapers through a cold regular cycle of you do not have this setting. You may use ¼ cup of detergent in this cycle, however waste material will dissolve in the cold water with or without and will be flushed away. This cycle is primarily to prevent staining.

4. Turn the temperature to HOT and do a REGULAR wash cycle with 1/4 cup detergent. (If you have a front loader, decrease detergent amount to 1/8 cup). If staining is noticeable after the cold pre-wash cycle, you may soak them in OXI-CLEAN for a couple of hours.

5. Use COLD water for the RINSE cycle. Cold water will wash away any leftover residue on the diapers. DO NOT use FABRIC SOFTENERS. They can leave behind oils on the soft inner fabric and prevent urine from passing through to the absorbent liner.

7. Tumble dry on the medium setting or hang dry. When dry, insert a liner into the pocket, and your ready to go at changing time!

You may use up to 1/4 cup of bleach in the hot wash cycle (step 4) up to once a month if you are experiencing a strong smell that does not wash away in a typical cycle. This is not strongly recommended to do in a regular routine and should only be used as necessary. Drying them in the sun can also help stains or smells due to the suns natural bleaching abilities.

*BIOKLEEN will work to keep your diapers from wearing out because it is very gentle to the fabric, and should help them last longer. Some detergents will work to eventually destroy these unique fabrics.

Once every month (approximately) you may also follow these instructions:

1. Pre-wash on cold as usual.

2. Run all diapers through a HOT wash cycle, no detergent.

3. Do another HOT cycle with a full scoop of BIOKLEEN.

4. RINSE twice in cold water.

5. Dry as usual.
